Walmart announced that they will give pay raises to its 23,275 employees in Georgia starting this week.
With the raises, Walmart employees will earn at least $1.75 an hour above the federal minimum wage and $3.85 above the Georgia minimum wage. The new full-time average hourly wage in Georgia is now $13.17 for Walmart workers.
As of April 4, all Walmart employees earn at least $9 an hour and by February 2016 all current employees will earn at least $10 an hour.
Walmart plans to raise the starting wage for some department managers to at least $13 an hour this summer and at least $15 an hour in early 2016.
