According to the United States Geological Survey, a level 2.2 quake occurred near Trion late Wednesday morning. The report indicated that the minor quake took place about two-and-a-half-miles west/southwest of town, roughly six miles in depth.
The last time the Town of Trion area experienced a quake was June 28th of 2013, about five miles outside of town; that time it was a level 2.1 at 14.9 miles in depth; and prior to that in Chattooga County you have to go all the way back to 2003 when a level 2.6 quake at around nine miles of depth was reported approximately four miles outside of Summerville.
