GEORGIA NORTHWESTERN TECHNICAL COLLEGE NOW SAYS THE NEW SATELLITE CAMPUS IN CATOOSA COUNTY SHOULD BE READY TO OPEN IN MID-2012.  CONSTRUCTION SHOULD TAKE 12 TO 16 MONTHS, ONCE PLANS ARE FINALIZED.

SOME HAD COMPLAINED THAT THE SITE IS SITUATED IN A FLOOD PLAIN… BUT GNTC OFFICIALS SAY THERE IS ENOUGH PROPERTY OUTSIDE THE FLOOD PLAIN TO CONSTRUCT THE PLANNED FACILITY.  IT’S NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF CLOUD SPRINGS AND DIETZ ROADS.  THE SATELLITE CAMPUS SHOULD HAVE 65,000 SQUARE FEET UNDER ROOF.

THE NEW FACILITY WILL BE FINANCED WITH BONDS TOTALING 10.6-MILLION DOLLARS.
