Looking for something to do on Halloween? The Downtown Halloween Walk is hosted by the Summerville/Trion Optimist Club. The walk will be held on Thursday, October 31 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Over 40 businesses, churches and civic organizations will offer treats to all the little spooks. Maybe you are looking for a scare? You will not want to miss this year’s Spectacular Spook House located on Hwy. 114 at the Summerville Recreation Department. The haunting begins on Halloween Eve at 6:00 p.m. Only the brave should dare to come!
On Saturday, November 2, Engine 630 of the TN Valley Railroad will steam into Summerville around 1:00 p.m. for an hour and a half lay-over. Don’t miss your last chance for the year to experience the excitement as the engine is turned on the Historic Summerville Turntable.
The 2013 Rattling Gourd Arts Festival will be held at the Chattooga County Civic Center, located at 44 Hwy 48 Summerville, GA 30747. Festival times are Saturday Nov. 2, 10am-6pm, Sunday Nov. 3, 11am-5pm. Some of the favorite, longtime participating artists will be returning, as well as quite a few newcomers from the surrounding area. Whether your interest lies in folk art or fine art, there is something for you. The Garden Club Café’ will also be open to your delight you taste buds. All of the café’s proceeds from the weekend directly fund beautification projects in the county.
Maybe you are a car enthusiast. The North Georgia Cruisers will also be hosting a cruise-in on Saturday, November 2, from 11:00p.m.-3:00p.m. on East Washington Street. Delicious hamburgers and hotdogs will be for sale and musical entertainment will also be provided.
