Two house fires within the past two weeks in Chattooga County – one of which involved a fatality – is a grim reminder of the importance of working smoke detectors inside a residence.
The Trion Town Council will hold their regular monthly meeting coming up next Thursday at Trion Town Hall. The meeting will get underway at 6 PM. The council agenda is expected to be posted later on the Town of Trion’s website. The public is invited and encouraged to attend meetings of the Trion Town Council.
The Chattooga Board of Education will hold their monthly meeting coming up this Thursday, April 21st at 6 PM. The board will be recognizing Young Georgia Authors at the meeting.

The viral disease called highly pathogenic avian influenza has been detected in bald eagles in Georgia and has likely undercut nesting success for eagles in the state’s coastal counties, according to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
While Georgia residents are no longer required to get a carry permit to have a concealed weapon, the permits are still available.
Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry implied that a water district employee that was suspended without pay for two weeks wasn’t suspended for “just one violation” and that WZQZ News used the wrong email address to request information from his office.
