WZQZ News first reported last week that Governor Brian Kemp would be appointing Lookout Mountain District Attorney Chris Arnt to fill the term of retired Judge Ralph VanPelt on the Lookout Mountain Superior Court bench. That appointment was confirmed on Wednesday of this week, and the governor announced who would be replacing Arnt as Lookout Mountain District Attorney.

The Chattooga County Board of Education will have a called meeting coming up this evening at 5 PM. There are big personnel changes on the agenda for tonight’s meeting, including the retirement of one longtime school system administrator and a new principal for Summerville Elementary School and Chattooga High School.
The Chattooga Indians boys basketball team continues to the next round of playoff action after defeating Tallulah Falls 60-57 at Chattooga High School on Wednesday evening. The Indians (18-9) will play at Mt. Vernon in the second round of GHSA basketball playoffs. The Lady Indians lost their game on Wednesday by a score of 67-45 to the Athens Christian Lady Eagles. The Trion Bulldogs lost their bid to move on in the Class A playoffs on Tuesday after losing to Rabun County by a score of 54-42. The Lady Bulldogs season came to an end after losing 61-28 to the defending state champions Elbert County.
A Summerville couple reported that they had several tools stolen from a house they were renovating in Summerville. According to the complainants, the house is located on C-Street and there was a large assortment of power tools that were being kept there while the house was being renovated. In addition to the power tools, thieves took a tool box and plumbing parts. According to police, the burglars broke a window with a rock in order to gain access to the house. The thieves then exited from the front door on the west side of the house. The incident is believed to have happened sometime between February 18th and February 19th. The case has been turned over to an investigator.
