Berry College will host a variety of musical performances featuring Berry students and faculty in February. All events are free and open to the public.
The White Oaks Ranch Presents the Sixth Annual Daryle Singletary Keeping It Country Jam, which is brought to you by Solomon Plumbing and Fire Protection, is set to take place at The Nashville Palace on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, as the unofficial kickoff to The National Wild Turkey Federation’s Convention and Sport Show. Neal McCoy, Tyler Farr, Rhett Akins, Craig Campbell, Andy Griggs, The Malpass Brothers, John Morgan, Jenna LaMaster, Duke Henry, and Robert Bacon are scheduled to perform. Additional event sponsors include RCI Restoration & Thrive Label Group. General admission tickets are $30 and are available online at the Sixth Annual Daryle Singletary KEEPIN’ IT COUNTRY JAM at The Nashville Palace.
Mrs. Linda Gail Bowman, age 69, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Bowman was born April 6, 1954, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late William J. and Mary Nell Hines Mull. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and had previously been employed as a Nursing Supervisor with the Walker County School System as well as Amedisys Home Health.
Mrs. Bowman is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jackie Paul Bowman; son, Jeremy (Lacy) Bowman; daughter, LeAnn (Dustin) Webb; sister, Shirley (Roger) Farmer; grandchildren, Chase and Coley Bowman, Sophie and Paisleigh Webb.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowman will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Ridgeway Baptist Church with Mr. Robert “Bug” Thomas and Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Chase Bowman, Robbie Dover, Richie Smith, Andy Tudor, Michael Farmer, and Brent Bruce. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Ridgeway Baptist Church and the staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Bowman will be in state at Ridgeway Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mr. Joshua Phillip “Josh” Key, age 42, of Cloudland, GA, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at his residence.
Mr. Key was born July 6, 1981, in Fort Payne, AL, son of Kathy Darlene Palmer Brown and the late Gordon Phillip Key. He was previously a member of Chelsea Baptist Church and was a self-employed handyman. Mr. Key was also an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.
In addition to his father, Mr. Key was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gordon and Helen Key; and maternal grandparents, Huston and Bessie Palmer.
Survivors include his wife, Kristin Key; sons, Malachi Key and Jacob Key; daughter, Kiley Key; mother, Kathy (Gary “Bucky”) Brown; brother, Chris (Amanda) Key; sister, Felisha Flannigan; step-brothers, Eric (Shelley) Brown, Justin (Fonda) Brown, Nigel (Rebeka) Brown; step-sister, Janie (Steven) Anderson.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Mount Olive Cemetery with Rev. Gary “Bucky” Brown officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jason Green, Stacy Aldridge, Stacy Reynolds, Eric Brown, L.J. Hall, and Gary Holbrook.
There will be no formal visitation.

The Georgia State Patrol has released a report about an accident on Saturday on Highway 27 at the foot Taylor’s Ridge. According to troopers, the accident involved a vehicle being driven by a seventeen-year-old Armuchee teenager and a pickup truck driven by a Huntsville, Alabama woman. Troopers say that the vehicle driven by the teenager began to hydroplane near the intersection of Sloppy Floyd Lake Road. The driver over corrected and crossed over into the path of an oncoming Ford F-150 truck. The driver of the first vehicle and two teenage passengers were transported to a hospital in Rome with minor injuries.

We are waking up to temperatures in the mid-50’s this morning and the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, Georgia has issued a Flood Watch that is in place until 7 PM this evening. Heavy rain is expected today, with the possibility of some thunderstorms. The heavy rains could produce excessive runoff which would lead to the flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and low-lying areas. Between one and two inches of rain is expected. Tonight, we could have thunderstorms early and gusty winds. It’s looking better for Tuesday when we will see sunny skies and highs in the mid-50’s. The rest of the workweek looks mainly dry with temperatures warming into the low 60’s and lows overnight in the low 40’s through Friday.
