220 Workers in DeKalb County, Alabama will loose their jobs today as Cherokee Finishing in Ft. Payne closes its doors. The parent company is moving the operations of the facility to Honduras. The company plans to keep its knitting mill and other company operations in Ft. Payne but the finishing jobs will be going overseas. Johnson Hosiery, V.I. Prewett & Sons Hosiery, and Ft Payne Socks would be closing in June, leaving McKeehan Hosiery, C.S. Bell Hosiery, Pioneer Knitting, Alabama Footwear, Prewett Knitting, and the Gildan’s Distribution Center and Administrative Offices.
