Three individuals had to be rescued from the frigid waters of Weiss Lake early Sunday morning after their vessel sank near Hog Island just off of the State Docks on Alabama Highway 9 in Cedar Bluff.

The 9-1-1 call was received just before 5:00am with the Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Cherokee EMS, Alabama Marine Police and Law Enforcement being dispatched to the scene.

According to paramedics on the scene at least one of the victims suffered from severe hypothermia, the other two fortunately were wearing waders. The victim was rushed to an area trauma center for treatment.
