A Walker County manufacturer is expanding their operation.

United Synthetics, in the former Buster Brown Plant, on Highway 193 near Lafayette, has announced a 3 million dollar expansion program. The company had considered moving to South Carolina, but apparently Walker County worked with them and they changed their minds.

The investment includes new operating equipment and construction of a new warehouse on the 16-acre site. Commissioner Bebe Hieskell said there was no financial assistance requested from the county with the expansion project. GRAM.

United Synthetics is a subsidiary of Stein Fibers, LLC., headquartered in Albany, New York. The local plant recycles plastics to produce fibers, which are used in furniture, medical devices and household items.
