This year marks the 30th year that the Chattooga County Shrine Club has held a telethon in Chattooga County.

AM 1180 spoke with Chattooga Shriner Pete Denson and Floyd Shriner Jack Brown about the telethon.  The Shriners said that Chattooga County has consistently had the best telethon in the state, and even during the past several years of a bad economy, Chattooga County residents have given liberally to the telethon.

All of the money raised goes to burned and crippled children.  The Shriners operate several hospitals where children are admitted regardless of ability to pay.  The Shriners also dedicated part of the proceeds to research.

This year's Shriner's Telethon will be held this coming Saturday and Sunday from the Dandee Denson Shrine Auditorium in down-town Summerville.  You can watch the telethon on SKY 21 Television and catch portions of the telethon on AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio.

AM 1180 will broadcast a Newsmakers Interview with Pete Denson and Jack Brown tomorrow (Wednesday) morning following the 8 AM Newscast and again following the Noon Trading Post Program.
