The Floyd County Grand Jury indicted 36 people Friday, according to documents provided by Superior Court Clerk Barbara Penson.

According to previous police reports, Floyd County Jail records and the indictments:

Roderick Louis Hight, 54, of 1270 Magnolia Ave., was indicted on a vehicular homicide charge for allegedly killing a motorcyclist on Shorter Avenue in the spring.

Hight is accused of hitting motorcyclist Cory Alexander Coots, 29, of Silver Creek, and his wife Jessica Marie Coots, 30, on March 16, while he was driving under the influence.

Cory Coots died a month later after the wreck at Shorter Avenue and North Hanks Street.

A Polk County woman accused of hitting a Mount Berry Mall security officer with her car after allegedly shoplifting several items in early November was indicted on an aggravated assault charge.

Stephanie Ann Baldwin, 30, of 624 Branch Road in Cedartown, allegedly stole several items from Spencer’s and then ran from the mall officers. She was charged with backing into mall security officer Michael Mason with her car. Mason was reported to be unhurt.

A man who allegedly fired a gun during a police chase was indicted on an obstruction of an officer charge.

Police attempted to stop Dunigan Prince Rogers, 38, of 32 Gibbons St., after he allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Maple and East 12th streets.

He left his car in the middle of the road and ran, firing a gun during the chase and resisting arrest, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

A Trion man accused of trying to swallow suspected drugs in July was also indicted on an obstruction of an officer charge as well.

Lewis Eugene Adams, 30, was stopped on Rockmart Highway by police due to a tag violation. He tried to swallow suspected methamphetamine and methadone, but eventually spit it out and threw it across a parking lot, the records stated.
