Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, issued a statement of regret, but not an outright apology for some of her “words of the past”. Rep. Greene stated that although she had posted about QAnon in the past, prior to running for Congress, those views did not represent her own.
Rep. Greene also leveled blame and accusations at the media and The Democratic Party.
After several hours of impassioned speeches from both Republicans and Democrats, Rep. Greene was removed from her appointed committees.
Greene was on the Education and Labor committee and the Budget committee. Democrats were especially upset about her assignment to the education panel, considering the past doubt she cast on school shootings in Florida and Connecticut.
Eleven Republicans joined 219 Democrats in backing Greene’s ejection from her committees, while 199 GOP lawmakers voted “no.”
