Chattooga County is seeing the largest number of reported COVID-19 cases since January of this year.  According to numbers released this week by the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been 97 new cases in the county over the past two weeks.

Six people in Northwest Georgia have passed away from COVID-19 over the past week, according to public health officials.

Meanwhile, hospitals in the area are reporting thirty-three hospitalized COVID-19 patients as of Wednesday of this week.

The State of Georgia recorded 101 virus deaths between July 14 and 20,  the most since weekly reporting began in April.  The previous high had been 82 on May 4.

As of Wednesday of this week, Chattooga County’s community risk level was moved from “high” to “medium”.
