Randall Levern Crisp, age 74, of Rossville, Ga. (formerly of Trion), passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at Pruitthealth in Fort Oglethorpe.

Known locally as Vern and Randy to friends and loved ones, Mr. Crisp was born May 5, 1947, in Trion, Ga., son of the late William (Cherry) Crisp and Elizabeth Pauline Craig Crisp. He was a member of the church of Christ. He enjoyed writing for theĀ Summerville News, covering Trion Bulldogs football for many years. He enjoyed fishing and golf and was an avid softball player in his younger days. He was most known for contributing to the many State championships while playing for the Riegel Rifles. He won many All-American teams awards and played on teams nationwide.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Crisp, children, Eric (Jenny) Crisp, Phil (Marwa) Crisp, Rick Holcomb, Jeff (Dierdre) Holcomb, Sam Holcomb, Becky (Travis) Long, and Brandy Nipper; brother, Nolan (Delaine) Crisp, sister Janice (Barry) Harris, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Crisp will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Robbie Eversole officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eric Crisp, Phillip Crisp, Dan Logan, Johnny Brimer, Mike Bowers and Jeff Bennett.
Mr. Crisp will lie in state where the family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday.
Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
