Chattooga County EMA Director Eddie Henderson along with Public Works Director Lamar Canada and local law enforcement are urging Chattooga County residents to stay off the roadways this morning.

Temperatures above freezing on Saturday afternoon caused a lot of slush on area roadways which froze overnight as temperatures dropped to the mid twenties.  Some areas, especially higher elevations, may not get above freezing today.

Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters told AM 1180 that county road crews would be working on the main roadways this morning, but many secondary roads will still be ice and snow covered.

Most churches in Chattooga County have cancelled services for Sunday morning and people are urged not to travel unless it is necessary.
