Mrs. Clara Jo Spears, age 67, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Spears was born October 4, 1943 in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late James and Hazel

Smith Nixon. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs.

Spears was preceded in death by her husband, Wilber Lee Spears; daughter, Stephanie Hegwood;

son, Scotty Ray Spears; sisters, Dorothy Baugh and Betty Beckner; brother, Jimmy Nixon; 

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Susan Spears; grandchildren, Scott

and Stephanie Spears, Chris and Iliana Roberts, Josh Hegwood; great grandchildren, Isaac and

Eli Spears, Christina Roberts; sisters, Carolyn Wesson, Mary Joyner, Rita Brock; brothers,

Richard Nixon, Michael Nixon, Anthony Nixon, Larry Nixon, and Phillip Nixon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel

with Rev. Jimmy Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Active pallbearers

will be Joey Roberts, George Coffia, Raburn Ashworth, Danny Bradford, Tony Jackson, and

Charles Teague. Honorary pallbearers will be Norma Gene Maxwell, Nina Bradford, Donna

and Eddie Shireman, Linda Hamilton, Employees and Staff of At Peace Hospice, and all

Personal Friends.

Mrs. Spears will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from

6:00until 8:00 p. m. Thursday.
