Mr. J D Dillard, age 82, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Dillard was born October 4, 1929 in Atlanta, GA, the son of the late William Lee and Bessie Galloway Dillard. Mr. Dillard was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a past treasurer. He was a former Junior Boys Sunday School Teacher, a former Little League Coach, and was formerly active in Boy Scouts. He was retired from Mohawk Industries and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 9 Brothers and 4 Sisters.

Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife, Geneva Scoggins Dillard; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Deborah Dillard, and Rodney Lee Dillard; sister, Betty Fortner, Trion, GA; grandchildren, Emma Dillard and Ethan Nixon; brother- in-law and sister-in-law, Billy & Tennie Scoggins; sisters-in-law, Paula Brown,Louise Dillard, and Rachel Dillard; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Four Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Doyle Kelly, Rev. Sanford Deberry, and Rev. Joel Smith, and Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Sonny Dillard, Howard Dillard, Thomas Dillard, Buddy Evans, Bill Ingram, and Keith Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Mick Allen, Cecil Reynolds, Ken Reynolds, A. L. Norton, Bobby Evans, Johnny Gorham, and Mike Dillard.

Mr. Dillard will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive from 5:00 until 8:00 p. m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011. He will also lie in state at Four Mile Baptist Church on Sunday from 2:30 until the service hour.
