Chattooga County and the rest of Northwest Georgia will stay under a cloudy, occasionally soggy pattern through Saturday as deep sub-tropical moisture funnels into the state.

Several weak disturbances sliding through the upper-level southwest flow will help squeeze out multiple rounds of light to moderate rain at times, but the heaviest totals are expected farther south—mainly south of Interstate 20—where the deepest moisture will linger.

For our area in Northwest Georgia, that means off-and-on showers, plenty of gray skies, and a damp feel through the day today and into Saturday. The good news: severe weather is not expected, since instability remains very low.

Temperatures will also run on the cool side thanks to clouds and periods of rain. Most of North Georgia (including Chattooga County) should top out in the 40s today, then trend a tick milder Saturday with highs near 50.

Looking ahead: shower chances may linger into Sunday, then a cold front early next week should finally dry things out. Behind it, colder air moves in with widespread sub-freezing lows possible by Tuesday morning—followed by a brighter, sunnier sky later Tuesday as high pressure builds in.
