Highs today are expected to reach well into the 70s across the region, and Saturday could be even warmer with more sunshine and fewer clouds. Some areas may flirt with record territory, especially where clouds thin out. Early morning patchy fog is possible, which could briefly reduce visibility on area roads.

Sunday stays mild with highs again in the 70s, though increasing clouds may bring a few light showers at times. Even with clouds, temperatures will remain far above typical late-December levels for Northwest Georgia.

The pattern shifts late Sunday night into Monday, when the next storm system pushes a cold front into the area. Forecast guidance suggests modest rainfall with the front, but the bigger impact will be the rapid temperature drop behind it. In parts of Northwest Georgia, temperatures may be warmest Monday morning, then fall through the afternoon as colder air pours in.

By Tuesday morning, colder air settles in with lows likely dropping into the 20s, and highs Tuesday only reaching the 40s to low 50s—a sharp return to winterlike conditions across Chattooga County and the surrounding area.
