A Chattooga County man was arrested on Christmas Eve following an incident that began at a local business and ended at a residence on Lakeside Lane, according to an arrest report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say 38-year-old Nathan Lee Godfrey was taken into custody on December 24, 2025, and charged with misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officers.
According to the report, deputies were at Archie’s Food Mart to receive a briefing on an active warrant when they were advised the subject might attempt to flee and could possibly be armed. Deputies were shown a photograph of Godfrey and then proceeded to a residence in the 200 block of Lakeside Lane in Summerville.
Deputies reported hearing movement inside the residence and a person yelling before Godfrey attempted to exit through a back door. Officers say they issued verbal commands and identified themselves, but Godfrey retreated back inside the home. After additional commands were reportedly ignored, deputies deployed a Taser, which resulted in Godfrey being taken into custody without further incident.
No injuries were reported, and deputies indicated the Taser probes were removed on scene. Godfrey was transported to the Chattooga County Jail, where he was booked on the obstruction charge. Authorities noted that no additional charges were being pursued at the time of the report.
