The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds have landed at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in Rome, kicking off preparations for this weekend’s Wings Over North Georgia Air Show.
The highly anticipated 2026 event will take place Friday, April 3, and Saturday, April 4, featuring the Thunderbirds along with some of the top civilian and military performers in the world.
Friday’s show will include an afternoon and evening lineup, beginning with opening ceremonies at 3:15 p.m. The Thunderbirds will perform later in the afternoon, followed by a twilight and night air show, a drone light show, and a fireworks finale.
On Saturday, gates open early with daytime aerial performances starting at noon. The Thunderbirds will return as the final act of the day, closing out the event with their signature high-speed demonstration.
In addition to the Thunderbirds, attendees can expect performances from military aircraft and elite civilian pilots, including warbirds, aerobatic teams, and specialty acts like the Jet Car Show.
Organizers remind attendees that tickets must be purchased in advance, as no tickets will be sold at the gate. A variety of viewing options are available, and food and beverages will be offered on-site.
The Wings Over North Georgia Air Show is one of the largest events in the region, drawing thousands to Rome and showcasing the best in aviation for Northwest Georgia residents and visitors alike.
