Georgia Highlands College recently welcomed high-achieving high school seniors and their families to campus for its first President’s Scholars Day, an event designed to connect prospective students with the college’s programs, opportunities, and community.

The event brought together seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who showed strong academic motivation and leadership potential. Students and families took part in academic program highlights, student-led Honors Program panels, and a financial aid session for parents.

Students also had the opportunity to participate in scholarship interviews, while keynote speaker Dr. Lawrence J. DeLucas, a former NASA astronaut and Space Shuttle Columbia crew member, encouraged them to think boldly about their future.

Attendees were invited to dress in “Sunday Dress” or dress-to-impress attire, adding to the event’s celebratory atmosphere. Light refreshments were served as families connected with faculty, staff, and current students.

College leaders say the event reflects Georgia Highlands College’s commitment to creating meaningful opportunities that support students on their path toward higher education.
