Chattooga County EMA and E-911 is now hiring full-time Communications Officers, offering an opportunity to serve on the front lines of public safety.
Officials say the position involves a split shift schedule, with primary hours from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m., and a rotating schedule of two days on and two days off, with every other weekend consisting of three days on and three days off. Flexibility is required, as employees may be asked to cover additional shifts when needed.
Starting pay is $16 per hour, with raises built in over time, including increases after six weeks, 12 weeks, and again around the one-year mark.
The job includes in-house training, along with required state certification. New hires will also attend a one-week training program at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, which includes an on-campus stay.
Officials emphasize the important role Communications Officers play, serving as the calm and steady voice during emergencies and helping dispatch critical assistance when it’s needed most.
