A man wanted on felony warrants in Walker County was arrested Tuesday after a pursuit that began in Tennessee and ended across the state line in Georgia.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the Criminal Warrants Unit located Kennie Montieth and attempted to take him into custody on active Walker County felony warrants.

Investigators said Montieth instead entered a vehicle and fled, leading deputies south on Rossville Boulevard and then west on Interstate 24. The pursuit continued until the vehicle crossed from Tennessee into Georgia.

Authorities said the vehicle eventually slowed enough for a Hamilton County deputy to safely perform a Precision Immobilization Technique, commonly known as a PIT maneuver, bringing the pursuit to an end.

Because the chase concluded in Georgia, Montieth was taken into custody by Georgia law enforcement officers.

In Dade County, Georgia, Montieth was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, felony obstruction of law enforcement officers by threats or violence, misdemeanor obstruction, failure to maintain lane or improper lane change, and operating a vehicle without insurance.

He also faces charges in Hamilton County, Tennessee, including evading arrest, reckless endangerment, aggravated assault, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, speeding, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving.
