Georgia Northwestern Technical College will conduct a test of its emergency notification systems today, Monday, August 10, at 10 a.m.

The college says it will test both the GNTC Alert system and the Centegix CrisisAlert System.

During the test, Centegix CrisisAlert strobes located inside GNTC buildings will flash and chirp. Students, faculty and staff should be aware that the activity is part of a planned system test.

GNTC Alert is the college’s text message and email emergency notification system. The system is used to quickly distribute important information, including severe weather alerts and notifications about emergency incidents on campus.

Students who do not receive today’s test alert are encouraged to make sure their contact information is current. Students can update their phone number by logging into their MyGNTC account, selecting the Registrar Forms tab on the dashboard and completing the Address and Phone Number Change form.

Faculty and staff members who do not receive the test alert should check their information through the Internal Directory on GNET and make sure all phone numbers they want connected to the alert system are listed correctly.

GNTC also notes that not all wireless providers accept and transmit text messages from the GNTC Alert system. Anyone whose phone information is correct but still does not receive text notifications should verify their email address through the GNTC Alert section at www.gntc.edu so emergency notifications can also be received by email.

The test is scheduled for 10 a.m. today.
