A Lyerly man was arrested after a dispute at a residence resulted in damage to a window, according to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Deputy Benjamin Mollohan was dispatched to a residence at 244 Tennessee Avenue in Lyerly at approximately 4:03 p.m. on July 29 following a report of a verbal argument and an individual attempting to enter the residence.

The suspect was identified as Andrew Christopher James Burse, 29.

According to the report, Mollohan observed Burse walking across the parking lot of Lyerly First Baptist Church and making contact with his male partner, who was inside a vehicle.

The deputy reported that Burse then approached him and said he was going to jail because he had broken a window. Burse reportedly described the incident as involving a verbal argument between himself and Robert Sumner.

Mollohan then spoke with Sumner, who told the deputy that Burse had arrived at his residence and the two became involved in a verbal argument. According to the report, Sumner said Burse was outside his front door and had been told he was not allowed at the residence.

The deputy reported observing damage to the glass and screen of a window beside Sumner’s front door.

Burse was arrested and charged with criminal trespass in connection with the incident.

All charges are accusations, and Burse is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
