Georgia began the new fiscal year with an increase in state tax collections, with net tax revenues totaling $2.57 billion in July.

According to figures released by the Office of Governor Brian Kemp, collections increased by $78.1 million, or 3.1 percent, compared with July 2025, when the state collected approximately $2.49 billion.

Sales tax collections were one of the biggest drivers of the increase. Net sales tax revenue increased approximately $79.2 million, or 10 percent. Local governments received approximately $894.5 million in adjusted sales tax distributions, an increase of $85.9 million.

Corporate income tax collections also posted a significant increase, reaching $72.2 million, up $18.4 million, or 34.3 percent, compared with July 2025. Corporate estimated tax payments increased by $17.1 million.

Individual income tax collections moved in the opposite direction, declining by $27.1 million, or 2.1 percent, from nearly $1.27 billion last July. Income tax withholding payments declined by $26.2 million, while individual income tax return payments fell by $35.1 million.

Motor fuel tax collections also decreased, falling approximately $10.6 million, or 5.4 percent, compared with July 2025. Motor vehicle tag and title fee collections declined by $2 million, while Title Ad Valorem Tax collections increased by $3.6 million, or 4.9 percent.
