A Chattooga County woman was arrested after deputies went to a Trion residence to serve an outstanding warrant and reported finding her hiding inside a bedroom.

According to an incident report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, Rebecca Sue Walcott, 49, was arrested July 31 after deputies responded to a residence at 324 North Ridge Estates in Trion.

The report states that Lt. Corey Fielding, Cpl. Jared Wilks and Deputy Alan Garmany went to the residence after learning Walcott had an active arrest warrant.

Deputies spoke with a woman at the residence who initially said Walcott was not there. According to the report, deputies later entered the residence and found Walcott hiding in a bedroom.

The report states Walcott initially refused commands to show her hands and resisted deputies’ efforts to take her into custody. A deputy reportedly warned Walcott that a Taser could be used if she did not comply.

Walcott was eventually handcuffed and taken into custody. Deputies reported that she continued resisting while being escorted from the residence, including attempting to grab the railing on the porch and later refusing to walk on her own.

She was transported to the Chattooga County Jail and turned over to jail staff.

The incident report lists Walcott’s charge as misdemeanor obstruction of officers. The report also notes that she was originally being sought on an outstanding arrest warrant.
