
Mohawk Industries is currently hiring for an Extrusion Operator at the company’s Summerville manufacturing facility. The position was posted Monday, August 17, and is based at Mohawk’s Summerville operation.
According to Mohawk’s job posting, the Extrusion Operator works with the company’s yarn manufacturing process. Duties include threading yarn positions, removing yarn wraps from rollers, positioning yarn ends and removing cones and tubes as necessary to keep machinery operating continuously.
Applicants must have previous extrusion operator experience. Mohawk also requires employees in the position to be able to perform basic math, understand and follow verbal and written instructions, and work without direct supervision while performing assigned duties.
The job is physically demanding. According to the company, employees must be able to lift up to 50 pounds throughout a 12-hour shift and regularly bend, crouch and stoop. The position also involves standing for extended periods, walking long distances and climbing ladders.
The work is performed in a non-climate-controlled, high-traffic manufacturing environment. Employees may also be required to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
The new posting is one of several recent indications that Mohawk continues to recruit workers for its Summerville operations. The company also posted a Lift Truck Operator I position for Summerville on August 7, while other recent listings have included sorter and extrusion positions.
