
A Summerville man was arrested following a reported domestic assault on Scoggins Street on August 14.
According to a Summerville Police Department incident report, an officer was notified that a woman had run to a patrol vehicle while visibly upset and asked to be taken to the police department.
The woman told police that Travis Denton, with whom she was in a relationship and living at the time, had struck her with a soda can and later placed his hand around her throat and attempted to choke her.
The report states that officers observed a mark on the woman’s right shoulder blade that she said was consistent with being struck. Officers also reported seeing redness around her throat and neck.
The woman told officers she scratched Denton in the face while trying to get away.
Officers then went to a residence at 271 Scoggins Street, where Denton was located. According to the report, Denton told officers that the woman had scratched him while he was trying to get away from her.
The report states that an officer was instructed to place Denton under arrest.
The incident was documented by the Summerville Police Department as simple battery/simple assault.
