A 30-year-old man was arrested after a Chattooga County deputy discovered multiple alleged violations during a traffic stop on Highway 27.
According to a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Kelby Christopher Slayton, 30, was arrested October 2 following a traffic stop near Roberts Drive.
The incident began around 6:22 AM when a deputy patrolling the area noticed a vehicle displaying a license plate that did not match the vehicle’s registration information.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop, and the driver pulled into the parking lot of a Texaco station.
During the investigation, the deputy identified the driver as Slayton and determined that his driver’s license was suspended.
The report also indicates that the vehicle was not properly registered and did not have valid insurance coverage.
Slayton was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended or revoked, misrepresentation of identity of a vehicle, no insurance and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
Following the arrest, Slayton was transported to the Chattooga County Jail.
The vehicle was left in the Texaco parking lot with permission from the property owner.
