Summerville’s Scout Troop 7 is thanking local residents, businesses, churches and volunteers for helping make its recent BBQ Plate Fundraiser a success.

The fundraiser, held September 21, raised money to support Scouting activities throughout the year, including camping trips, merit badges, rank advancement awards, leadership development and other educational opportunities for local youth.

Troop leaders say the community’s generosity will help ensure that Scouts can continue participating in activities that build character, confidence, leadership skills and a commitment to serving others.

Scoutmaster Mandy Durham expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support received from the Summerville community.

“We are truly blessed to live in a community that values and supports our Scouts,” Durham said. “Every plate purchased, donation given, and act of encouragement helps provide meaningful opportunities for our young people to learn, grow, and serve others.”

Troop 7 also recognized the volunteers who helped prepare food, organize plate sales and coordinate deliveries and distribution.

Local businesses and organizations contributed supplies and other resources, helping reduce expenses and allowing more of the proceeds to support Scouting programs.

Troop leaders say the fundraiser’s success demonstrates the community’s continued commitment to investing in young people and providing opportunities for personal growth.

The money raised will help Troop 7 continue offering activities and advancement opportunities while keeping participation affordable for local families.

Troop 7 serves the Summerville area through the Northwest Georgia Council of Scouting America. The troop focuses on outdoor adventure, leadership training, community service and character development.

Scouting America offers year-round programs designed to help young people develop practical skills, confidence, responsibility and leadership through hands-on experiences.
