
James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park near Summerville has announced changes to its October programming schedule due to incoming inclement weather.
Park officials say activities originally planned for this weekend have been rescheduled, with a variety of outdoor adventures and Halloween-themed events now planned throughout the remainder of October.
The updated schedule begins Saturday, October 17, with four activities, including a Tails on Trails Hike at 10 AM, Tracks & Footprints Craft at 1 PM, Campfire Cookies at 3:30 PM, and a Sunset Paddle at 6:30 PM.
Additional activities are planned later in the month, including several nighttime hikes, Halloween hayrides, and pumpkin painting.
The remaining October schedule includes:
- October 24: Hike on the Dark Side – 7 PM
- October 24, 25 and 31: Halloween Hayrides – 1 PM to 4 PM
- October 26: Moon Pie Hike – 7 PM
- October 27: Creatures of the Night Hike – 7 PM
- October 28: Lightning Bug Lanterns – 6:30 PM
- October 29: Into the Dark: Bat Hike – 7 PM
- October 30: Pumpkin Painting – 6 PM
- October 31: Sunset Paddle – 6 PM
The programs offer opportunities for families and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy the park during the fall season, with activities ranging from guided hikes and crafts to paddling and Halloween celebrations.
