A 35-year-old woman was arrested on DUI and drug charges following an early morning traffic stop near Chattooga High School, according to a report from the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Hali Jean Roberson, 35, was arrested on October 5, 2026, after a deputy observed a white Nissan Altima traveling on Highway 114 near the school at approximately 6:50 AM.

According to the report, the deputy noticed the vehicle swerving to the right and left, nearly striking a vehicle as it passed, and turning its emergency lights on before coming to a stop on Sewell Cash Drive near the high school baseball fields.

The deputy reported that Roberson’s eyes appeared red and her pupils were constricted. When asked to step out of the vehicle, Roberson reportedly agreed to undergo field sobriety testing.

During the evaluation, the deputy observed several indicators of possible impairment, including difficulty following instructions, balance problems and slowed reactions. The report states that Roberson was unable to complete portions of the testing as instructed.

Roberson was placed under arrest and searched. During the search, the deputy reported finding a small bulge in her shirt pocket. Roberson allegedly removed the items, which included suspected methamphetamine in a small container and a suspected marijuana blunt.

After being placed in the patrol vehicle, Roberson was asked to submit to a blood test but refused, according to the report.

A second deputy assisted with the investigation. The report states that a search of Roberson’s vehicle uncovered a suspected marijuana blunt in the passenger seat.

After arriving at the Chattooga County Jail, a deputy reported observing Roberson moving around in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. The deputy later discovered a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine near the rear seat.

Roberson was charged with DUI–Drugs (Multiple Substances), Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Schedule V Drug.
