Chattooga County EMA is reporting numerous downed trees, damaged power poles, downed power lines and hazardous road conditions as Hurricane Isaias impacts the area.

⚠️ HIGHWAY 157 AT PARTAIN ROAD: EXTREME DANGER! A downed power line is reportedly arcing in the roadway, producing balls of fire. AVOID THIS AREA AND STAY AWAY FROM ALL POWER LINES.

⚠️ PEACH ORCHARD ROAD AT MCWHORTER ROAD: ROAD COMPLETELY BLOCKED. A broken power pole and a dead tree lying across the pole are blocking the entire roadway. Motorists should find an alternate route.

⚠️ HIGHWAY 337 – 5000 BLOCK: A tree is leaning over the roadway with power lines involved. A Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office deputy reports the road is passable. Georgia Power has been notified for cleanup.

⚠️ HAIR LAKE ROAD AT RIDGE VIEW DRIVE: Debris is partially blocking the roadway. Use caution.

⚠️ STATE LINE ROAD – CLOUDLAND: A fallen tree is blocking half the roadway in the 1000 block. Chattooga County Public Works has been dispatched to remove the tree.

⚠️ SOUTH LITTLE SAND MOUNTAIN ROAD: A power pole is down in the area, and North Georgia EMC has been notified and is working to restore service. Another tree is blocking the roadway in the 600 block.

⚠️ HIGHWAY 100 NEAR LEGEND HOLLOW ROAD: A fallen tree is blocking half the roadway. The Georgia Department of Transportation has been dispatched for removal.

⚠️ HIGHWAY 27 AT CENTRAL AVENUE: The Georgia State Patrol reports high water near the intersection. Drivers should avoid standing water and use extreme caution.

A fallen tree is blocking one lane of the roadway in the 600 block of Edison Street in Menlo.

Menlo maintenance crews are en route to remove the tree and clear the roadway.

Motorists should slow down and use caution when traveling through the area.

Chattooga County Emergency Management Agency Director Pamela M. Vaughn reports another dangerous situation involving a fallen tree and power lines in the Cloudland area.

1600 BLOCK OF GILREATH MILL ROAD: A tree is lying on power lines and hanging over the roadway.

Callers report that the tree appears unstable and could fall at any time, potentially bringing the power lines down into the road.

Motorists are urged to avoid this area if possible. Do not drive beneath the damaged tree or approach any downed or damaged power lines.

The report comes as emergency personnel and utility crews continue responding to numerous storm-related hazards throughout Chattooga County.
