The annual Chattooga County Young Farmers Hog Show and Auction will take place Monday, November 9, at the Chattooga Agricultural Center in Summerville.

The event begins at 7 PM at the agricultural center, located at 40 Middle School Road, and the community is invited to attend and support local students who have spent months raising and preparing their market hogs for competition.

The annual show gives young agricultural enthusiasts an opportunity to demonstrate their hard work and dedication while showcasing the animals they have raised. Participants are responsible for caring for their hogs, monitoring their growth and preparing them for judging.

The event also includes an auction, providing an opportunity for community members and businesses to support the students while purchasing locally raised pork.

Beyond the competition, the Young Farmers Hog Show provides valuable hands-on experience in animal husbandry, responsibility and agricultural education. Students learn about feeding, animal health, recordkeeping and the commitment required to raise livestock.

The annual event is a longstanding tradition that brings together students, families, agricultural supporters and local residents while highlighting the importance of agriculture in Chattooga County.

The show and auction begin Monday evening at 7 PM at the Chattooga Agricultural Center, 40 Middle School Road in Summerville.
