Mr. Dan Dell Culpepper, age 84, of Trion, GA, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Culpepper was born June 5, 1929, in Jackson County Alabama, the son of the late John Erskine and Sara Hillian Culpepper.  Mr. Culpepper was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, served as song leader, and served as a Deacon for many years.  He was retired from the A.S. Haight and Company where he worked as a supervisor.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War, and he had also served as a Bailiff for the Chattooga County Court System.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Culpepper was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mr. Culpepper is survived by his wife, Ila Jo Chandler Culpepper; son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Vickie Culpepper; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Jo  and Robert “Spooky” Dawson, Tammy  and Jack Owings; a brother, Jimmy D. Culpepper; a sister, Barbara J. Culpepper Denton; grandchildren, Allison Dawson , Shelby Warren, Shon Culpepper, Hillary Owings Carpenter, and Julia Owings Park; 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Culpepper will be held at 3:00 P.M.   Sunday, February 23, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryant and Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with military honors.  Pallbearers will be Shon Culpepper, Jay Wilborn, Jason Park, Justin Carpenter, Matt Eubanks, Lee Tanner, Bob Warren, and Chase Wilborn.

Mr. Culpepper will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M.  until the service hour on Sunday.
