Mrs. Lillian Ruth Morrison Locklear, age 90, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Locklear was born July 15, 1923, in Centre, AL, daughter of the late Arthur Wesley and Ruby Laveda Chitwood Morrison.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Trion First Baptist Church where she was very active for over 50 years.  Mrs. Locklear was a 1940 graduate of Lyerly High School where she was a star basketball player.  She was active in Chattooga County Extension work, was a member of the women’s V.F.W., and volunteered with the Pink Ladies Society and with Hospice, Inc.  She was retired from the Chattooga County Hospital/Oakview Nursing Home and co-owned Locklear Cleaners for more than 15 years.  She was also a self-taught piano player and lover of music.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Locklear was preceded in death by her 4 siblings, Mildred Morrison Denson, Ret. SFC Harold Herron Morrison, Sr., Lena Mae Morrison, and Katherine Morrison Bryant.

Mrs. Locklear is survived by her husband of 67 years, William “Billy” Locklear, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, William “Bill” Locklear, Jr. and Dora Locklear of Kennesaw, GA; grandchildren, Joseph W. Locklear and Kathryn E. Locklear of Kennesaw, GA; step-granddaughters, Aubrey Chant of Murfreesboro, TN, and Madeline Chant of Savannah, GA; niece, Gwen Bentley of Lyerly, GA; friends, Alma Lewis, Norman McClellan, Robbie McGraw, the Dorcas Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church, and the members of Trion First Baptist Church Choir.

Funeral services for Mrs. Locklear will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 3, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active Pallbearers will be Jon Dennis, Clint Strange, Greg Bentley, Bobby Daniels, Barry Bentley, Joe Reed, and Tim Wesson.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Dorcas Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church, the Seekers Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church, Lois Bearden, Barbara Massey Reece, Kelly Tanner, Steve Dupree, Wayne “Pete” Denson, and Jimmy Bennett.

 Mrs. Locklear will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday.

 In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Trion First Baptist Church Building Fund.
