Mr. Fay Alexander Maxey, age 94, of Menlo, GA, passed away Saturday March 21, 2015 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Maxey was born August 4, 1920, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Fay and Clara Alexander Maxey Knox. He was retired having worked at Best Mfg, Riegel Textile, and operating Maxey drug store in Menlo for many years. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Maxey was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Hardwick Maxey, step-father, John Knox, SR, sister, Rose Knox Wooten, brother, John S. Knox, JR, nice Margaret Knox Hammond.
Survivors include a niece, Janice Hutchins, nephew, John S. Knox, III, sister-in-law, Jo Trammell, special friends, Cindy Murray, Janice Tucker, Anita Willingham, and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 24, 2015, from the Greenhills Memory Gardens with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Active pallbearers, David Hall, Dempsey Lawson, Sid Swords, Pete Vaughn, Mark Goodson, Ben Sellers. Honorary pallbearers, Chuck Powell, Paul Hosmer, Rex Evans. Interment in Greenhills Memory Garden with Full Military Honors provided by the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
Mr. Maxey will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. Tuesday until the service hour.
