Mr. James Wesley Witten, Sr., age 71, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Etowah Landing in Rome, GA.
Mr. Witten was born April 24, 1944, in Marion, KY, son of the late Hearl Thomas Witten and Martha Sue Scott Witten. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a contractor with C. W. Matthews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Michael Witten and Brian Witten; brothers, David Witten, Jack Witten, Roger Witten, and Thomas Witten.
Mr. Witten is survived by his wife, Katheryn Jackson Witten of Summerville; a son, James Wesley Witten, Jr. of Portage, IN; daughters, Mary Ann Bridges of Summerville, GA, Dorothy Knoezer of Portage, IN; a brother, William Witten of South Haven, IN; sisters, Linda Clarida of McLeansboro, IL, Betty Moore of Gary, IN, and Wanda Price of Michigan City, IN. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Witten will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 10, 2015, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Sumner and Pastor John McGraw officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jesse Dutton, William Pickle, Richard Gilbert, Bobby Chambers, and Russell McKee.
Mr. Witten will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour on Wednesday.
