Rev. James Leon Stager, age 92, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015, in Cherokee Nursing and Rehab.
Rev. Stager was born December 1, 1922, in Lindale, GA, the son of the late James Davis and Micheal Ledford Stager. He was a Baptist Minister serving as pastor of Baptist Churches in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee for over fifty years. He was a graduate of Cave Spring School, a veteran of U S Army having served in WWII, and was a member of the Trion First Baptist. Rev. Stager was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Trotter Stager, brothers, Clifford Stager, R.C. (Buddy) Stager, H.F. (Jim) Stager, sister, Hazie Justice, and a son-in-law, David A. Garmon.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Sid and Liz Stager, Douglasville, GA, daughter and son-in-law, Genela and Mike Hutchins, Menlo, GA, brother, Lloyd (Bill) Stager, Lindale, GA, grandchildren, Connie and Claye Barwick, Rome, GA, Krista and Mike Kenner, Duck Creek, Utah, Amy and Jeromie Hartline, Acworth, GA, Steve Stager, Douglasville, GA, great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kenner and Carter Kenner, Duck Creek, Utah.
Graveside and entombment services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday September 16, 2015, from the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome, GA. with Rev. John Fleming officiating. Active pallbearers will be Steve Stager, Dave Stager, Malcom Stager, Bill Stager, Robert Winkle, and Mike Hutchins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Trion First Baptist Church.
