Mr. Billy Ray McGuire, age 74, of Lyerly, died March 17, 2016 at Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Mr. McGuire was born April 26, 1941, the son of Arthur and Lula Teems McGuire.
He was a retired truck driver and enjoyed spending time working in the yard at his home in Lyerly. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Lisa McGuire; and a grandson, Corey Thompson. Three sisters, Rosa Simmonds, Ella Mae Floyd, Mary Davis; two brothers, James Edwin Mcguire, and William "Dub" McGuire also preceded him.
Mr. McGuire is survived by his daughters, Gina McGuire of Lyerly and Hope and Neil Shropshire of Pennville; a son, Charles "Chuck" McGuire of Albany, Ga; grandchildren, Adam and Alana McGuire of Lafayette, Ga, Jonathan Shropshire, and Harlie McGuire of Summerville, Ga. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Berryton Church of God with Dr. Stanley Smith and Rev. Bill Cox officiating. Interment will follow in the Armuchee Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Berryton Church of God from 2 PM until the funeral hour.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: David McGuire, Travis McGuire, Adam McGuire and Tye McGuire, Neil Shropshire, and Sid Swords. They are requested to meet at the church by 3:45 PM.
Honorary pallbearers will be staff and residents of Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the staff of Harbin Clinic Summerville Dialysis Center.
