Mr. Joshua James "John Deere" Childers, age 30, of the Little Sand Mountain Community, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Childers was born February 26, 1985, in Rome, GA, son of Debbie Sue Cargle Childers and the late Larry Randall Childers, Sr. He was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church and was employed with Triple J Logging. He was a 2004 graduate of Chattooga High School.
Joshua always enjoyed riding along on the tractors and logging equipment as a youth. As a man, he grew to love and be confidently able to operate any piece of equipment he climbed on. He loved John Deere equipment, especially skidders. He enjoyed working in the woods and tried to move the most wood the machine would move the fastest. He loved doing a good job and receiving recognition for his abilities.
Mr. Childers is survived by his mother, Debbie Childers; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Shelbie Childers; grandfather, Oliver "Shorty" Cargle; grandmother, Mary Childers. A number of uncles, aunts, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Childers will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016, from the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Myles Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Dawson, Doug Morris, Zack Cargle, Chris Cargle, Terry Cargle, Justin Cargle, Tony Rench, and Zack Anderson.
The family will receive friends at the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.
