Mrs. Allie Jo Hughes, age 70, of Summerville, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Floyd Medical Center.
Mrs. Hughes was born March 7, 1946, daughter of the late Guy and Allison Jenkins Mitchell.  She was Baptist by faith, and prior to her retirement, had worked as a daycare worker at the Academy for Little People.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Freddy Mitchell and Stanley Mitchell; and a sister, Patricia Burlene Hilding.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband, Howard Virgil Hughes, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Howard Virgil Jr. and Ann Hughes; daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Joan and Randy Bishop, Tammy Christine Lau; brother, James Mitchell; sisters, Amanda Watson and Barbara Griffin; grandchildren, Stephanie Blackmon, Shannon Curtis, Samantha Hughes, and R. J. Bishop; great-grandchildren, Pierce Blackmon, Kade Blackmon, and Millie Blackmon. 
Funeral services for Mrs. Hughes will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Devin Curtis, Randy Bishop, Dexter Blackmon, Kenneth Hughes, Kenny Hughes, and Dennis Green.
Mrs. Hughes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Friday.
