Mr. Joseph McArthur “Joe” Thompson, age 73, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017, in Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Thompson was born June 17, 1944, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late J.V. and Annie Lou Burton Thompson. He was Baptist by faith and was retired from Riegel Textiles.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Wanda Michelle Thompson and T. Shropshire.

Survivors include his children; Joe Thompson, Jr., Greg Jett, Charles Weaver, Kevin Weaver, Chattia Fleewood, Phyllis Denise Thompson Young, and Lisa Jett; brother, James Robert Thompson; sisters, Hattie Mae Mosteller, Emma Burse, and Iva Nell Haynes; and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 7, 2017, from  the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Melvin Mosley, Rev. James Lovelace, Pastor Eric Mosley, and Rev. James Hannah officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lee Mosteller, Johnny Haynes, Anthony Haynes, Arthur London, Charles Johnston, Jr., and Andrew “Junior” Lawrence.
