Yesterday, WZQZ News reported on the updated schedule for free, drive-up COVID-19 testing sites in Northwest Georgia. (DPH Releases New Schedule For Free COVID-19 Testing In Northwest Georgia ).  Logan Boss with the Northwest Health District spoke with WZQZ about testing for Chattooga County residents. 

Boss said that the free, drive-up testing that was being held at North Summerville Baptist Church was discontinued last month.  Boss told WZQZ, “The decision to discontinue the drive-up test site in Chattooga County was due to low demand and for better resource and time management for health department staff.”  Chattooga County isn’t the only county in the Northwest Health District in which the drive-up test sites were discontinued.  They have also been discontinued in Polk and Haralson Counties and Logan Boss says that was for the same reasons.

Boss says that Chattooga County residents can still access the free drive-up test clinics in neighboring Walker and Floyd Counties.  Also, the Chattooga County Health Department is offering free testing to symptomatic people by appointment at the Health Department on Farrar Drive in Summerville.

Boss said that the changes were not easy decisions, but were necessary because “resources are limited and stretched pretty thin.”
