Mrs. Cook was born February 23, 1918 in Duluth, GA, the daughter of the late Pierce Turner and Effie Duncan Turner. She was retired from Riegel Textile. Mrs. Cook was a long-time resident of Trion, GA and a charter resident of The Suites at Oakview in Summerville for the last 8 years. She has been a member of Trion First Bisptist Church for over 50 years. Other than her parents, Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband: Herman Cook; brother: Calvin Turner; sisters: Lucile Stancil, Virginia Crawford, Emily Evans, and Margaret Williams.
Survivors include a daughter: Gloria Cook Brown; grandchild: Michelle A. Brown; great-grandson: Joseph Allan Lewis; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Powers officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brent Martin, Derry Martin, Clayton Berry, Tyson Berry, and James Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of the Suites At Oakview.
Mrs. Cook will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p. m. Sunday, August 22, 2010. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Georgia Baptist Childrens Home (505 Water Works Road, Palmetto, GA 30268) or the WMU of Trion First Baptist Church.
