Chattooga County Commissioner Blake Elsberry announced this week that Chattooga County has been selected by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) as the winner of the 2024 Georgia County Excellence Award program for the “Stand Alone Emergency Room Project”.

The emergency department was built by AtriumHealth Floyd and has exceeded expectations in the number of people it has served in Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama.  The freestanding emergency department features six treatment rooms, onsite laboratory, imaging services, heart tests such as EKG and a helipad that provides access to the Floyd Medical Center Level II Trauma Center in Rome.

The county will be recognized with the Georgia County Excellence Award at this year’s ACCG Annual Conference in Chatham County.
