The Georgia State Patrol post in Rome is reporting a serious accident on Highway 27 on the Southbound side of Taylor’s Ridge.
Emergency crews are on the scene, and reports indicate there could be a possible fatality. The accident involved 2 vehicles.

UPDATE—–
Sheriff John Everett tells AM 1180 Chattooga County radio that the accident that occured on Taylors Ridge this morning was a head on collission involving a GMC or Chevy Pickup and a Lincoln Town Car. The driver at fault was ejected from the vehicle. Family members say the man may have had a medical condition. The elderly lady who was hit has been flown by Lifeforce to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
Sheriff Everett said that it will take some time to get Highway 27 open to traffic. Meanwhile traffic is being routed down Wildlife Lake Road. Everett said that wreckers will have to pull one vehicle out of an embankment. According to the Sheriff the lady who was airlifted to Erlanger Medical Center suffered several broke bones in the accident.
Chattooga County Coroner Earle Rainwater is at the scene of the accident at this time.

Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio just moments ago that the fatality in this morning’s accident on Taylor’s Ridge was a 55 year old man from Marrietta, Georgia. The man has been identified as Larry Barnette. Barnette was ejected from his vehicle on impact during the accident and was pronounced dead by Chattooga County Coroner Earle Rainwater.
Meanwhile, 75 year old Bonnie Montgomery of Chattooga County has been flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga with broken bones – her injuries are not being considered life threatning.
